Photography Fundamentals with Sony Cameras

A one-day beginner photography course in Brussels using Sony cameras, with exposure, autofocus, lenses, light, composition and Lightroom practice.

Overview

Move beyond Auto mode and learn to make deliberate photographs with Sony cameras through portrait, motion, depth-of-field, product and five-image story exercises.

If camera menus, numbers and lens choices currently feel confusing, this course gives you a calm starting point. Mohammed Lubbad demonstrates every principle on Sony cameras, then learners practise with immediate feedback. You will learn the exposure triangle in plain language, choose autofocus settings that suit still or moving subjects, understand how focal length and aperture change an image, compose with intention and work with available light. The course introduces full Manual mode without forcing every photograph to be made manually; the goal is to know when and why to take control. Choose one practical day at our accessible Brussels studio, where Lubbad Sony cameras are shared one between two learners, or two live online evenings using your own camera with an assignment between sessions. The practical work includes a portrait, motion-freezing and depth-of-field exercises, a product photograph, a five-image mini story and a Lightroom introduction. English and Arabic cohorts are taught separately. Support for non-Sony menus is best-effort.

FAQ

Which Sony cameras will be used?

Demonstrations draw from Lubbad Production Sony bodies including the A7 IV, A1, A9 III, FX3 and FX6. The exact stills-capable bodies assigned depend on availability; the class uses only the controls and features relevant to beginner photography.

Do I need my own camera?

Studio learners may use a Lubbad Sony camera shared one between two. Online learners must have their own camera, charged battery and empty memory card.

Can I bring a Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm or another camera?

Yes. The principles transfer to every brand, while demonstrations use Sony and help with other menu systems is best-effort.

Will the course teach full Manual mode?

Yes. You will learn the exposure triangle and practise Manual mode, while also learning when Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority is the simpler choice.

Which lenses and lights are used?

We use a small beginner-friendly selection from the studio GM lens collection, typically one standard zoom and one normal or portrait prime, plus available light and one simple Aputure setup. The purpose is to understand choices, not to demonstrate every item in the equipment room.

Is photo editing included and do I need a laptop?

A 45-minute Lightroom introduction covers selection, exposure, colour, crop and export. A laptop is optional; the instructor demonstrates the workflow and practice files are supplied afterward.
