Overview
A one-day, hands-on Brussels workshop covering the videography fundamentals beginners actually need: how a camera sees light, how to keep your shot in focus, how to record audio that does not embarrass you, and how to cover a simple scene so it cuts together. You leave with a short edited piece you shot during the day.
Most beginner video tutorials drown you in jargon before you have ever held a camera properly. This workshop does the opposite. We spend a full day at the Lubbad Production studio in Brussels working through the four pillars every videographer needs before anything else: exposure, focus, audio, and basic coverage. Mohammed Lubbad teaches the whole day personally, in a small group, with real cinema and hybrid cameras in your hands. The morning is structured teaching with live demos, we cover the exposure triangle on an actual sensor, white balance under tungsten and daylight, the difference a 24mm lens makes versus a 50mm, and how to set up a lavalier mic so it does not pick up your jacket. After lunch we shoot. You will work in pairs or threes to capture a short scripted scene (we provide the brief) using everything you learned in the morning. Then we sit together at an edit station and assemble the footage in a simple timeline so you see how shot choices affect the cut. You go home with the edited piece, your notes, a printable cheat sheet for exposure and audio settings, and a clear sense of what to practice next. Everything is in plain language. We do not pretend that one day will make you a cinematographer, it will not. What it will do is replace the guesswork in your settings menu with deliberate decisions, which is the actual gap between beginner footage and footage that looks intentional.

FAQ
Do I need to own a camera?
No. We have loaner cameras from Sony, Canon, and Lumix, plus phone rigs, available for the day at no extra cost. If you do own a camera, bring it, we adjust the teaching to what you actually shoot on.
Is the workshop taught in English, French, or Dutch?
Primarily in English, with French and Dutch explanations on request during demos and one-on-one coaching. Mohammed speaks all three. The printed cheat sheet is available in EN, FR, and NL.
I have no editing experience. Will I be lost in the afternoon edit session?
No. DaVinci Resolve looks complex but we only use a handful of functions today, import, mark in-out, drop on timeline, trim, export. Mohammed walks each team through it step by step. If you finish ahead, you can experiment.
What is the cohort size?
We cap at 8 participants so everyone gets meaningful camera time and direct coaching. Below that we still run the workshop; above that we do not, that is the whole point of in-person.
What if I cannot make the date I sign up for?
Workshops are scheduled in cohorts. If you cannot make the cohort you joined the waitlist for, we move you to the next available date at no charge. We do not run on a fixed monthly schedule; cohorts open when there is demand, usually every 6 to 10 weeks.
Is lunch included?
Yes. A simple lunch (sandwich, salad, drink) is provided at the studio. If you have dietary needs, tell us in the pre-workshop email so we can arrange it.
