Overview
Learn to edit Reels, Shorts, TikToks, and short business videos with intentional pacing, clean captions, considered sound design, and a repeatable template system you can use for your own content or for small brand clients.
Most short-form videos fail in the first 1.5 seconds. The cut is too slow, the caption arrives late, the audio is uneven, the grade is doing nothing, and the viewer scrolls. This course is the editing approach we use at Lubbad Production for our own short-form work and for the small business clients who hire us to produce a consistent flow of Reels and Shorts. It is tool-agnostic on purpose. You can follow along in CapCut on your phone, CapCut Desktop, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut. We focus on the decisions, not the buttons. You start by understanding why short-form is a fundamentally different edit from long-form: how the first frame works, what a 'scroll-stopping' opening actually is in practice, and how to pace cuts so the video carries the viewer past the 3-second drop-off. Then you build the four craft layers that make a short feel professional: rhythm, captions, sound design, and grade. Finally, you turn what you learned into a repeatable template system so you are not starting from zero every Monday morning, editing your own creator content or delivering a monthly pack for a client. We film the demonstrations in our Brussels studio at Rue Delaunoy 58 using ordinary phone footage and consumer cameras, because that is what most of your content will be shot on. There are no plugin packs to buy, no presets to download. The goal is for you to finish the course able to edit a 30-second short in under an hour, with a clear reason behind every cut.

FAQ
Which editing software do I need to follow this course?
The course is deliberately tool-agnostic. We demonstrate in CapCut (free, available on phone and desktop) and reference equivalent steps for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut. If you already edit in any short-form-capable tool, you can follow along. If you are starting fresh, CapCut Desktop is the easiest entry point.
I have never edited before. Is this still appropriate?
Yes. The course is built for beginners. We do not assume any prior editing knowledge. The 'beginner to intermediate' label is there because the second half, templates and client workflow, adds genuinely useful material for someone who already edits casually. If you are completely new, you will learn alongside the craft sections; if you already make Reels or TikToks but feel they look generic, the second half will be where you find the most value.
Will this teach me Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve in depth?
No, and that is intentional. This is a short-form editing course, not a software course. We cover the decisions and craft that apply in any editor. If you want a deep dive into Premiere Pro specifically, our dedicated advanced Premiere Pro course is the right next step after this one.
Does the course cover trending music and viral templates?
We deliberately steer away from trend-chasing. Trends date quickly and using copyrighted trending music is a real problem for client work. Instead, we teach how to choose music structurally and how to build your own template system so your work stays consistent regardless of what is trending this month.
Can I use what I learn for client work?
Yes. The final module is built specifically around small-client workflow: how to brief, how to handle revisions, how to deliver, and a starting reference for pricing a monthly pack of shorts for a small business. The course is designed for both creators editing their own content and freelancers or small agencies editing for paying clients.
How much time will the course take to complete?
About 5 hours 40 minutes of teaching content, plus practice time on your own footage. Most students complete it over 2-3 weeks, doing one module per week and the exercises in between. Because it is self-paced, you can move faster or slower as suits you.
