Scoping and Quoting a Brand Video Project: Free Mini Course
A free, 40-minute mini-course for freelance videographers and producers. Scope, quote, and contract a brand video project using Lubbad Production's own templates.
Overview
A 40-minute, free mini-course that turns a vague brand-video brief into a defensible quote, a clean SOW, and a contract you can send the same day. Built from the same scoping and contract framework Lubbad Production uses on its own client work.
Most freelance videographers and small studios do not lose money on the shoot, they lose it on the quote. They under-scope the brief, forget half a day of post, eat revision rounds for free, and only realise on delivery week that the client thinks usage means "forever, everywhere, including paid ads in three countries". This mini-course fixes that, in one focused sitting. You will walk through the exact way Lubbad Production scopes a brand video project before sending a number, how we read a brief, what questions we ask before we touch a calendar, how we translate "we need a brand video" into shoot days, edit days, deliverables, usage rights, and a clean total. You get the same internal quote-builder template we use to price our own client work, with the line items pre-categorised (pre-production, crew, gear, studio, post, usage, contingencies), and the formulas already wired so you only fill in the numbers. You will also leave with a sample Statement of Work and a Belgian-law-aligned contract framework adapted from Lubbad Production's own production contract, the one we use on real brand shoots leaving our Rue Delaunoy 58 studio in Brussels. The framework covers the parts most freelancers skip: deposit and balance, revision rounds, usage scope (territory, duration, supports), portfolio rights, force majeure, cancellation tiers, and the difference between B2B and B2C clauses under Belgian law. This is not a generic "how to send invoices" course. It is the producer-discipline layer that lets you say a confident number out loud, defend it line by line, and protect yourself when scope drifts. Every example references real production scenarios, a Brussels brand shoot for a SaaS founder, a corporate event capture for a Belgian agency, a two-day brand film for a fashion label, so the lessons translate to the work you are actually being briefed on. The mini-course is free and self-paced. Sign in, work through the lessons in any order, download the templates once, and use them on your next quote. If you want the longer paid tracks, Wedding production, Drone work, Founder brand films, they assume you already know how to scope a project, and this course is the foundation. A short note on legal validity: the SOW and contract templates are adapted from Lubbad Production's own working contract framework. They are designed for Belgian and French freelance practice and are a strong starting point, but, as our own legal notice says, any contract you send to a client should be reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction before first commercial use. We tell you exactly which clauses are most important to have validated.

FAQ
Is this mini-course really free?
Yes, sign in to your free Lubbad Academy account and the full mini-course, the quote-builder spreadsheet, the SOW template, and the contract framework are accessible immediately. No card, no trial. It is our top-of-funnel asset, and the deliverable templates are the same ones we use on our own client work.
Can I use the contract template as is for paying clients?
It is a strong, lawyer-drafted starting point built around Belgian law (Code civil, Code de droit économique, RGPD), and it is structured to be adapted. As the legal notice on the original Lubbad contract itself states, any contract you send commercially should be reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction before first use. We tell you exactly which clauses to flag for that review.
I work in France (or another EU country). Is this still useful?
Yes. The scoping, quoting, and SOW lessons are jurisdiction-neutral, the producer discipline is the same in Paris, Brussels, or Amsterdam. The contract framework is built around Belgian law, but the structure transfers. The final lesson explicitly tells you which clauses you must have replaced by a French (or local) lawyer before using it on a French client.
Why is the instructor ''Lubbad Production Team'' instead of a single person?
Because producer discipline is a team craft, not a founder-personality vehicle. The frameworks taught are the same ones used across Lubbad Production by the producers and directors who quote, scope, and deliver real brand work out of our Brussels studio. The lessons are recorded in the team voice for that reason.
How long does the course take to complete?
Around 40 minutes of video and reading, plus another 30 to 60 minutes if you want to work through the exercises and produce your own quote-pack alongside the lessons. Most learners finish the videos in one sitting and use the templates the same week on a real brief.
Does this work for non-brand-video projects (weddings, events, podcast capture)?
The scoping, line-item quoting, SOW, and contract framework all transfer cleanly. The specific examples are brand-video shaped because that is where freelancers most often under-scope, but if you scope and quote a wedding or a podcast recording day, the same seven-block structure, the same usage-licensing logic, and the same B2B/B2C contract distinctions apply. We point this out explicitly in Module 2.
